WHO ARE OUR MEMBERS?

AWE members are specialist wine educators who come from varied backgrounds with most having experience either in the wine trade or in education or both. Several members are active in the media as wine writers or radio/TV presenters. Our members hold WSET Diploma or have demonstrated equivalent knowledge in wine (some are Masters of Wine), and all have experience in presenting a range of educational events.

OUR QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY

To become a member, applicants must have passed the WSET Diploma (or equivalent). They should supply satisfactory references from two non-members who have heard the applicant speak and must then be evaluated by a current member before acceptance. Members are encouraged to supplement their knowledge by attending regular seminars, tastings and vineyard tours, which are arranged by the Association.

Full members are wine educators who do not trade in wine.

Associate members are equally qualified wine educators whose income comes partly from trading in wine.

AWE insists that all members present wines objectively.

If you are interested in joining, please contact the administration office at Scots Firs, 70 Joiners Lane, Chalfont St. Peter, SL9 0AU or e-mail us at admin@wineeducators.com.

WHAT CAN OUR MEMBERS OFFER YOU? - THEIR SERVICES

AWE members are experienced in working with groups of wine consumers and wine trade students of all levels of knowledge. Many offer Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Intermediate and Advanced Certificate courses at colleges or private venues (WSET is a Corporate Member). Most will tailor-make courses, evenings, corporate events, residential weekends or holidays to suit your requirements. Members present tastings on a wide range of subjects ranging from introductory tastings to specialist tastings of wines from a particular grape variety, country, region or even individual vineyard. For more details of an individual member's work, see their personal directory entry.

All AWE members are specialists in organising all types of wine event.

HOW TO USE THIS DIRECTORY

Members are listed alphabetically or by region. On region pages, there is a quick key to the services offered eg WSET courses, travel holidays. Click on the members photo for more details. Note that unless otherwise stated, telephone numbers are for both daytime and evening. Please contact individual members directly to discuss dates, subjects, fees and expenses for your required wine event. Please note that our members charge a professional fee for their time and require wines to be paid for at cost (on some occasions, wine costs may be subsidised). Members are often willing to travel outside their own region subject to payment of appropriate travel and subsistence expenses.
