The AWE’s only member in Brazil, Tufi Neder Meyer PhD AIWS, has recently passed the WSET Level 5 Honours Diploma with Merit. He joins the select band of just 22 people in the world with this qualification.
His project, ‘Critical analysis and possible expansion of Double Pruning and Winter Harvest (DPWH) in Brazil and other countries’, studied an innovative vine management system that enables grapes to be harvested in winter, away from heavy rains and heat. This practice is already in commercial use in Brazil and in his work Tufi has investigated a large series of potential regions where the climate means that DPWH could be implemented.
