Mimi Avery Wine
I have a broad knowledge of wine from across the world through both my work as a buyer and retail manager and the pioneering work of my father in the re-establishment of New World Wines in Europe. Through my family background I also have a good knowledge of the fine wine scene.
My 33 years in the trade was initial training with Christopher Fielden of Wine Source, then 5 years at the International Wine and Food Society Secretariat in London.
Then 25 years at Averys from customer Services, through the shop to shop manager, then assistant buyer to buyer, then brand Ambassador – when my speaking Roles became the dominant focus. During this time I also tutored WSET level 3 Australia, New Zealand and Burgundy lectures.
Have been working for myself since June 2025 and running my own speaking business since November 2025.
I have Spoken at half a dozen events since last June, been a judge at the IWC and managed the local wine shop. I have judging, speaking and event managing projects in the diary.
In all I have spoken at hundreds of events, managed dozens and been a national and international judge over the last 15 years.
My most popular themes at the moment are the History of the Avery family through wine, Wines of Australia, Anything but Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, Off the beaten Track and Wine and food matching dinners.
