Paul’s interest in wine was first sparked long ago by an accidental holiday in Beaujolais. Since then, he has travelled frequently around the world’s wine regions and regularly attends tastings and judges in Europe, particularly Italy. It enables him to keep up with the latest developments and communicate a sense of place.
He won the prestigious Wine Trade Club Paten Scholarship while studying for the WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits, which he passed at the L5 Honours level. The Scholarship was taken in New Zealand.
A particular specialist subject is Biodynamics, an environmentally friendly agricultural philosophy that many of the world’s top wine producers adopt. This ties in with his commitment to the environment. He is most at home in the vineyard.
Paul has unique expertise in using Blockchain technology to transform the wine business. He was the first wine writer to cover this topic and speak at Verona’s wine2wine wine business forum.
Paul has an MBA in Business Strategy and a Personal Alchohol Licence. Trade and Corporate clients appreciate this mix of wine knowledge and business understanding. He teaches at all levels, from Beginner to Expert, and is also a WSET accredited tutor.
His informal style and infectious enthusiasm ensure an enjoyable time for all participants, whether talking to corporate or trade audiences. After all, wine is fun!
Paul is a freelance writer on wine, food and related topics and carries a journalist Press Card. He is also a member of the Circle of Wine Writers. His website is http://www.winealchemy.co.uk. Awarded Wine Education Expert of the Year 2017 by the Food & Drink Awards and Best Wine Education Expert 2017 by the Global Excellence Awards. Other awards have followed.
