I am a qualified physiotherapist, biomedical scientist and obtained a PhD in Education (Didactics). I am an industry consultant and lecturer at Stellenbosch University in Occupational Health (Ergonomics) and Quality Improvement Management.

I am passionate about Wine and Brandy!

I have served as a wine tasting judge for several years including the Wine-of-the-Month Club selection panel, taster for the annual Platter’s South African Wine Guide (brandy as well), annual Veritas awards, IWSC, IWC, Mondial du Merlot, Decanter World Wine Awards, ABSA Top 10 Pinotage competition, ABSA Peroldt Competition for Cape Blends, SA Best Value Guide, Battle of the Berge, Green Wine Awards, Diners Club Winelist of the Year, FNB Top 10 Sauvignon Blanc, Nederburg Auction Selection, Worcester and Breedekloof Winemaker of the Year, ReCM Best Value chairperson and various other wine selection panels. I present regular corporate and private wine and brandy tastings. I teach an international wine course at the Hotel School as well as a regular lecturer at the International Wine Education Centre (Wine and Spirit Education Trust courses).

In addition, I am a member of the exclusive South African Brandy Guild, as well as the Grand Maître of the Commanderie de Bordeaux en Afrique du Sud. I appeared as a guest on the lifestyle programme, Signature Living with Reuben, as well as curated a brandy exhibition for the Pendock Wine Gallery.

I am the immediate past chairperson of the Institute of Cape Wine Masters (ICWM) and a member of the Education Committee of the ICWM. Other writing includes wine/brandy and restaurant reviews for the 021 Magazine, Classic Wine, Good Taste, Die Burger newspaper, Die Beeld newspaper, Stellenbosch Visio, Cheers and Mango Airlines inflight magazine.
