AWE member, Professor Gareth Morgan along with his colleague Richard Tresidder, have published a fascinating book which looks at wine in a social context giving the reader the incentive to think about the part wine plays in the world today. Its double title, Contemporary Wine Studies: Dancing with Bacchus illustrates the book well: it’s informative and instructive yet throughout reminds us that wine is a pleasurable resource humanity is lucky to have access to.
It doesn’t take you through regions and appellations, wine-making techniques and producers. Instead it investigates the role of wine in a social context and delves into the part humanity plays in all its facets, from production to labelling, from marketing to learning.
